CA – Associate Veterinarian

Napa Small Animal Hospital is looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join our dynamic team! Established in 1989, our hospital honors the health and happiness of all pets and people, and it is our firm belief that you can’t put a price on doing the right thing. We are dedicated to providing top quality medical care to a diverse socio-economic community, and as a hospital we recognize that exceptional skills and excellent equipment can only go so far when clients don’t have the funds to pay for services. To help alleviate the ethical burden of turning away those in need due to financial constraints, each of our doctors, and our support staff collectively, receives a yearly charity stipend to use at their discretion for NSAH patients whose owners cannot afford care. If compassion, at root, means to respond fully to the needs of the moment, at NSAH we do everything we can to keep money from getting in the way of our team practicing medicine with integrity.

Our ideal candidate is looking to bond with us and with our community, and we encourage applicants interested in growing into a leadership position. NSAH also strives to nurture doctors seeking to hone their skills in particular specialty areas of veterinary care (for example, acupuncture or dentistry). Indeed, as a full-service hospital of general veterinary medicine, we take great pride in the extensive range of services our doctors have to offer and are always excited to expand our ability to better serve our patients and clients.

We have a truly terrific team of support staff, and are well-equipped with the following:

  • Digital standard and dental radiography
  • Ultrasonography (new 2019 Oncura machine)
  • Endoscopy (2016 Storz machine, rigid and flexible scopes)
  • Extensive in-house as well as external laboratory and consulting services
  • Cornerstone/paper-lite operating system

Additionally, for those times when a patient’s medical needs call for an even more specialized perspective or treatment than we can provide in-house, we have excellent working relationships with top specialty doctors and hospitals throughout the wider Bay Area, as well as the professors and doctors at the UC Davis VMTH.

We would also like to emphasize that at NSAH, our commitment to caring extends to each other and we all work hard to maintain a positive atmosphere and to help one another go home feeling accomplished every day. We are a team that appreciates a good sense of humor as well as a professional attitude, and our management structure encourages healthy communication and collaboration both within and between departments. At NSAH, we enjoy getting together outside of the office when we can, and our doctors and staff are regularly engaged in various charitable efforts and events. In fact, just this past August our very own Team Kimba was proud to have raised the most money for Napa Humane’s annual fundraising ‘Walk for the Animals’ for the fifth year in a row! The proceeds all benefit Napa Humane, an organization which provides many services for the community and to which we also often contribute our skills when they host free clinics.

Last but not least, NSAH is beautifully situated in the Napa Valley wine country, which is famous for good reason but boasts much more than world-class wine and a lovely countryside. Napa is within an hour’s drive from San Francisco, the Bay Area, and the Pacific Coast, and less than three hours from Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountains. We really do get the best of both urban and natural wonders, with outdoor activities in abundance as well as access to rich and diverse cultural amenities. The cost of living in the region is also significantly lower than it is in the Bay Area.

Our ideal candidate will have 2+ years of DVM experience but we will consider more recent graduates with the right attitude and interests.

Our compensation and benefit plans are generous, competitive and commensurate with experience, including:

  • Production based OR salaried compensation options
  • Signing bonus and/or relocation assistance, up to $30,000
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with shared premiums
  • Practice-sponsored short-term disability and life insurance
  • 401(k) eligibility with employer match
  • Paid time-off for personal use and to attend continuing education
  • Annual continuing education allowance
  • Coverage in our AVMA PLIT policy
  • Reimbursement of all licensure and DEA fees
  • Reimbursement of professional membership dues

We are currently looking to fill 3-4 shifts per week, have the flexibility to consider FT or PT candidates, and can offer a set weekly schedule (with no on-calls, ever). While we have been closed on Sundays since the spring of 2017, we would consider re-opening for an applicant interested in working a different schedule and offering limited services that day.

About Willis:

Willis, a lumber and agricultural community in Montgomery County, began to develop in 1870 after the railroad, now known as Union Pacific, was built through the area. The extension of Interstate Highway 45 through here in the early 1960’s helped integrate the community into a regional economy and provided a corridor through which both industrial and suburban development could begin. Today, Willis is home to nearly 2,000 households, primary and secondary public schools, nearby recreation courtesy of Lake Conroe, and much more. Willis is quickly becoming a suburb to Houston.

About Houston:

The style-savvy residents of the country’s fourth-largest city and third-largest county (Harris) know that there’s no place quite like Houston. With more than 2.2 million residents, the city attracts visitors and transplants with a wonderful mix of world-class arts, booming business, pro sports and award-winning cuisine. Venture Downtown and discover a thriving professional arts scene, with professional resident companies in ballet, opera, symphony, and theater; only four other U.S. cities can say the same. And the nearby Museum District stakes its claim as the country’s fourth largest, with 18 cultural powerhouses set within blocks of one another.

WI – Associate Veterinarian

Norwood Animal Clinic is an AAHA accredited small animal practice that prides itself on providing a high standard of medicine, personalized patient care, and an excellent client experience since 1968.  We are located in Milwaukee, WI, just on the northwest side of Milwaukee County (bordering Menomonee Falls and Wauwatosa, right off of Highway 41).

Norwood’s longevity in the community has led to a very loyal clientele even when faced with changes in the normal ebb and flow of progressive medicine.  Norwood has been very fortunate to have support staff that has faithfully served and supported it consistently – some of whom are coming up on 20 years of tenure with us!  Our team is thorough, compassionate, and believes in handling our patients with calm, gentle, fear free methods.  We strive to create a burn-out free environment that is fun and where everyone enjoys coming to work every day.

We have been operating as a 1.5 FTE DVM practice since 2017, however we are looking to expand.  One of our associate veterinarians has recently decided to focus on her own mobile practice and while we are super sad to see her go, we wish her all the best!

Besides the basic skills of a general practitioner, we enjoy having doctors and support staff willing to collaborate as a team, share ideas, develop progressive standards of care, and provide mentorship that makes a practice and work environment successful.  All levels of experience are welcome to interview, especially if you feel you meet what we are looking for!
