What Does it Mean to be Part of the Blue River Family?
SUPPORT & CARE FOR EACH PRACTICE
”The sale process with the Blue River team was as smooth as anyone could ask for. Blue River has impressed me with their support and care for each practice. This is evident at their annual meetings which include a fun learning environment for medical directors and practice managers. They have a hands off attitude allowing practices to continue being successful. Blue River's team of intelligent, innovative, and caring professionals has been a pleasure to work with.

SMOOTH TRANSITION
”I took a chance and replied to an email inquiry from BRP. After the initial meeting with Dan and Roy, I knew they were not like the others. My hospital could keep everything the same and the clients would not see any difference in overall quality and care. As it turned out, this was true. I can’t imagine the stress I would have gone through if I had sold to someone else. BRP guided me through the process and made the transition as smooth as it could have gone.

PATIENT CARE FIRST
”Having the support of Blue River allows us to enhance patient and client care, because it allows me to focus on what's most important, and that is the patients, and the clients, and the medicine. They're behind the scenes. They're handling the HR, they're handling the finance, they're helping with operations, but they're really allowing me to focus on my job, which is being the best doctor that I can be.
Zachary Joseph, DVM - Medical DirectorScott Lake Veterinary Center, Prior Lake, MN
GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
”When I joined the Blue River family, I honestly didn't really know what to expect, but I have been pleasantly surprised by all the positive things I was told about them are true. And my career has gone further than I thought possible because of them. Blue river absolutely understands the importance of continuing education and really pushes for not only the doctors to allow the time to give them for that, but practice managers, team members, if, as long as we're learning, we're growing.
Lindsay Nettles, LVT - Practice ManagerHeights Veterinary Clinic, Houston, TX
CAREER GROWTH
”My career has grown substantially since I joined Blue River PetCare. I started in 2015 as Practice Manager of two locations in the Houston area. And in 2019, I was offered a position as a Regional Manager overseeing all of Texas. And then afterwards more states. That was always a dream of mine. And I had voiced that early on and Blue River PetCare immediately started to invest in me and support me and my goals. And I'm so grateful.

MEDICAL AUTONOMY
”When you're a solo practitioner, you have a lot of independence, which I thought I would lose some of it working at the setting of a corporate practice. But it actually was not the case. One of the things that I enjoy about working with Blue River is the fact that we have autonomy in the things we do, the decisions we make at the local level. In other words, yes, we are a corporate practice, but the decisions we may make on a daily basis are not mandated by corporate. I’m able to focus on medicine and the things that I enjoyed the most, the ones that I'm most passionate about, which is what keeps me going despite being in the business for 26 years.
Heriberto Martinez, DVM - Medical DirectorHeights Hospital for Animals, Houston, TX
PRESERVATION OF PRACTICE CULTURE
”Prior to the selling my clinic, BRP promised not to change how we practiced medicine or our practice culture. I continue to practice for BRP and can say that they have been true to their word and not interfered with how we practice. Very few of our clients even know that the practice has been sold. I would recommend BRP to anyone that is considering selling their practice.

THE RIGHT DECISION
”We first became aware of Blue River 6-7 years prior to our sell to them in 2019, because they had bought my husband's vet school classmate's clinic in Houston. I called Roy Jain way back then and I was so impressed that he just took 30 minutes to give me some advice to prepare for a sell whenever it might arise.
Linda Welch - Former Practice OwnerHutto Veterinary Clinic, Hutto, TX
Then when we did start negotiating seriously with them, it was painless and professional. Also, speaking as the wife of the vet, I very much appreciated that Roy, Ferdie and Dan all came to visit the clinic and meet the staff, to assure them that nothing would change except they'd get better benefits.
Two and a half years later, the same basic staff is still at the clinic, and we still are very sure we made the right decision to sell to "those guys from Chicago."
PRACTICING MEDICINE MY WAY
”What I appreciate and enjoy with Blue River is that I can be the doctor. I can see my patients, focus on them and their care and their needs while I have a strong management team that helps the facility and the practice run smoothly. For most veterinary professionals looking to join a practice, when they hear the notion of a corporately-owned practice, they think that you're going to be thrown into a certain system of how you practice veterinary medicine. Blue River just does not operate that way.
Lisa Pina, DVM - Medical DirectorHeights Veterinary Clinic, Houston, TX
SUPPORT & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
”I used to feel like a shark in a tiny fish bowl with no where to go and grow and I felt very stifled in my career and was working on my exit plan. Ever since Blue River purchased our clinic it has given the clinic and myself so much more opportunity for personal and professional growth. It has given me the platform, tools and support to bring my visions to life, and I feel excited again about what I do. When a corporation comes in it can be scary not knowing how that will affect you or the place you work. Blue River has allowed our clinic the autonomy to continue to be us, but gives us the support, guidance and tools that allow us to be even better. They care so much about the well being of the staff/people working for them. They put employees first, and they invest in our personal & professional development. I am so grateful that my medical director chose to sell to Blue River.
